The Board Chairman of the Ghana National Gas Company, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, has assured that the newly constituted board will act swiftly to complete delayed projects initiated by the company.
He gave the commitment after the board's first visit to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, where members inspected key installations, including the $25 million Cylinder Bottling Plant and the Gas Trauma Centre, both of which remain incomplete or underutilised.
During the tour, Ghana Gas’s General Manager for Technical Services, Robert Asmah, briefed the board on the bottling plant's progress, revealing that $10 million has already been spent, but construction has slowed due to financial challenges and issues raised by the contractor.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Mr. Totobi Quakyi said, “We are not impressed with the progress of work because we didn’t see too much. We have to go back to the drawing board. Any investment should not go to waste.”
The visit also included a stop at the Anokye Gantry, another completed facility that has yet to be fully operationalised.
Acting CEO of Ghana Gas, Judith Adjobah Blay, emphasised the company’s commitment to completing the stalled projects, stating, “The contractor needs money to install these carousels and other installations to make it work. We have to find money to complete them.”
The board has pledged to act on the findings and ensure these long-standing investments are brought to completion and put to productive use.
