In a milestone moment for African technology, SeamlessHR, the continent's fastest-growing SaaS company, has received a strong endorsement from Dr. Werner Vogels, Chief Technology Officer, and Vice-President, Amazon, during his visit to SeamlessHR's headquarters in Lagos on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The visit is part of an ongoing AWS initiative to engage high-impact software providers in emerging markets. In a session with SeamlessHR's executive leadership, and wider team including Dr. Emmanuel Okeleji, CEO, SeamlessHR, Deji Lana, CTO and Co-Founder, SeamlessHR. Dr. Werner Vogels commended the company's approach to solving critical business challenges across the continent.
During his visit to SeamlessHR's Lagos headquarters, Dr. Werner Vogels, was impressed by how the company is championing workforce productivity across Africa by putting people at the heart of technology. In the wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Vogels shared lessons from his journey to becoming Amazon's global CTO and spoke extensively about Amazon's innovation culture, and the principles that shape product development at scale. He also discussed the future of emerging technologies, the transformative impact of generative AI on B2B SaaS, and AWS's long-term commitment to enabling African developers and enterprises..
Founded with the vision of transforming how African businesses enhance workforce productivity and optimize operations, SeamlessHR's software is used by nearly 2,000 businesses to manage HR and payroll processes for over 300,000 employees across 20 African countries, serving sectors from finance and logistics to technology and manufacturing.
The visit by Amazon's global technology chief comes on the heels of a major funding milestone for the company. In January 2025, SeamlessHR announced the closing of a $9 million funding round led by the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures, a move that further underlines investor confidence in the company's potential to shape the future of workforce productivity across the continent.
