Mr Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) has appealed to the public to help the company tackle illegal connections and meter theft to sustain their operations.
He said meter theft and illegal connections undermined system efficiency and revenue mobilization, saying the company's commercial losses increased from 22 percent in 2023 to 23 percent in 2024.
Interacting with a section of the media in Sunyani ahead of phase seven of the NEDCo's revenue mobilization and loss control exercise, Mr Addo said the company would begin the exercise Monday July 14, 2025.
He said illegal connection and meter theft remained serious offences, warning that perpetrators would be prosecuted accordingly, rallying the public to stem the practice.
Mr Addo said the two-week exercise was in line with NEDCo's ongoing efforts to recover outstanding payments and stem illegal practices that threatened operations and financial stability adding that the Sunyani Area Office targeted to recover GH¢20 million debt.
He said the area had a total GH¢120 million outstanding debt, and urged customers to pay their debts, saying those who failed to do so would be disconnected and prosecuted.
