As her separation drama continues to make headlines, Miley Cyrus has released a new song, “Slide Away,” about, well, separation drama.
She dropped the single early Friday and sings about how “Once upon a time it was paradise / Once upon a time I was paralyzed / I think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights / But it's time to let it go."
As well as, “Once upon a time it was made for us / Woke up one day and it turned to dust / Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost / So it’s time to let it go.”
Most interesting is that the artwork shows bottles of booze and pills bobbing around a pool and she also sings, “I want my house in the hills / Don't want the whiskey and pills / I don't give up easily but I don't think I'm down."
It’s an interesting choice considering sources from Cyrus’s side told TMZ that Miley tried to save her marriage but her so-called dealbreaker was that Liam was drinking a lot and using certain drugs — and that she wanted to no part of it.
A similar story popped up on People magazine, “Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate],” a friend of the couple said. “Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now.”
But there are two sides to every story. That narrative was spun after Cyrus, who identifies as queer, was seen kissing Kaitlynn Carter in Italy. They have since returned to L.A. together.
While the reaction to Miley’s new song has been amazing positive from within her circle...

She’s also being called out for the “whiskey and pills” line. Now Cyrus didn’t say specifically who she was referring to — she could have been singing about herself for all we know— but if it is Liam, as Cyrus “sources” have been putting out there to the press, and it really is a problem for him, then maybe putting him on blast like this isn’t the best way to address the problem.
is she saying liam has a problem with whiskey and pills? yikes
Last Saturday, as photos surfaced of Cyrus canoodling with Carter, the “Wrecking Ball” singer confirmed her split from Hemsworth after seven months of marriage. Here’s everything we know about the split.
