As part of an eventful day three of trial, 6ix9ine testified that Cardi B has ties to the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods during cross-examination looking into his fast rise to fame.
The "Gummo" rapper said he didn't try to copy Cardi's blueprint to achieve his meteoric rise by having members of the gang join him in his music videos. "I knew who she was. I didn’t pay attention,” 6ix9ine allegedly said in court. Atlantic Records denies to Billboard 6ix9ine's claims that Cardi B was a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
Jim Jones' name also came up during Tekashi's testimony Thursday morning (Sept. 19). According to court reporter Matthew Russell, 6ix9ine identified Jones as a member of Nine Trey and also referred to him as a "retired rapper."
New York Daily News reporter Stephen Brown said a wiretapped phone call between the "We Fly High" rapper and 6ix9ine associate Mel Murda was played for the courtroom. Many on hand believe Jones is talking about Tekashi. "He's not a gang member no more," Jones allegedly can be heard saying. "He was never a gang member. They going to have to violate shorty because shorty is on some bulls--t."
Cardi B did confirm last year in a GQ profile about her debut album Invasion of Privacy that she joined the Bloods as a teenager.
