CHRISTELLE Awa from Congo beat nine other beautiful ladies to be crowned winner of the maiden edition of African Most Beautiful USA pageant held last weekend at the Ritz Theatre in New Jersey,USA.
For her prize, Christelle got the crown, cash and drove home a car. Priscilla Assifuah representing Mauritania was first runner-up and Ghana’s Hannah Agyapong came third.
Before the event proper, the glitz and glam came alive on the red carpet as patrons including Ghanaian celebrities such as Koo Fori, Ayisha Modi, Counselor Lutterodt, Pope Skinny trooped in to experience a night of bliss, fashion, music and great African cultural performances.
Cultural displays from contestants representing various countries in Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and more heralded the night. This was followed by showcase of talents to impress judges and to thrill patrons.
It was also a night of music performances featuring Kofi Kinaata, Stonebwoy, Kwaw Kese and others who treated patrons to some good music.
In a brief statement at the event, Nana Akosua Nkrumah Adasa III, Nkawie Abofrem Hemaa and CEO of Abofrem Area Foundation, organisers of the contest said she was happy with the turn out of the event.
She thanked her team a job well done and promised putting up a better show with subsequent ones.
“We have all witnessed this spectacular showcase of our beautiful African culture, its great values and quality entertainment.
"We at Abofrem Area Foundation are bent on using this to change the story in our rural areas through development.
“ We will be back stronger and better next year to tell the world our beautiful African story. Well done to my team and everyone who supported us in one way or the other”, she stated.
The African Most Beautiful USA pageant aims at celebrating the diverse yet beautiful culture from all parts of the African continent in the United States of America.
