A$AP Rocky is experiencing a massive transformation, both on the silver screen and in his personal life. In an interview with W Magazine dated January 6, the rapper opened up about his breakout year in Hollywood. He discussed his roles in the films “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” and “Highest 2 Lowest.” He also shared details about his life at home with Rihanna and their kids.
In “Highest 2 Lowest,” the 37-year-old played an aspiring rapper who attempts to kidnap the son of a powerful music mogul, portrayed by Denzel Washington. Meanwhile, in Mary Bronstein’s film, Rocky portrays James, a motel superintendent who provides emotional support and becomes an unlikely, calming friend to a struggling mother played by Rose Byrne.
During the sit-down, A$AP Rocky addressed whether he feels more sentimental since becoming a father. He responded, “I am way more emotional.” The artist, who is formerly known for his tough exterior, joked that before having kids, he was probably “cold-hearted.”
However, he now describes himself as a “loving kind of fella” who has “got a lot of love to give to the world.” When the interviewer shifted the topic to the future, specifically what happens when someone tries to date his daughter, whom he welcomed with his longtime partner Rihanna in September 2025, he said, “I’m going to pray for them.”
Rocky’s emotional growth stemmed during a professional peak. In 2025, the rapper brought his signature swagger to the film industry in two major projects. Despite his busy schedule, he remains focused on his “baddie” glamour roots.
The interviewer also asked about his crushes growing up, to which Rocky shared, “Mary-Kate and Ashley [Olsen] in Full House. I had some cool crushes: I always had a crush on Aaliyah. And Serena Williams was a big crush of mine.” But now, Rihanna is all he thinks about. In a 2021 interview with GQ Magazine, the rapper called the “Work” singer “the love of my life” and referred to her as “my lady.”
