The Poku Transport Endowment Fund on Wednesday presented an amount of GH¢ 2,500 to five brilliant but needy students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in support of their education.
The beneficiaries are Aaron Baffour-Awuah, Electrical Engineering student, Maxwell Kwadwo Baah, Mechanical Engineering student, Mark Kwabena Gadogbe, Forest Management student, Inusah Abdul-Jalil, Child Health student and Clement Opoku, a Pharmacy student.
They are all in their third year and each received GH¢ 500.
Professor Francis Kwami, Chairman of the Fund, urged the students to be serious with their studies to achieve academic success and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nation.
He reminded them that they were selected for support by the Fund because of their academic performance and said that should be maintained.
Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, the Vice-Chancellor, said they were grateful to the Fund and appealed to corporate bodies and philanthropists to be more supportive of needy students.
The University authorities, he said, would continue to introduce new programmes in the Sciences that are relevant to Ghana's development agenda.
