A district court in Kumasi has sentenced a 21-year-old butcher to 36 months imprisonment for unlawful entry and stealing.
Baba Abubakari, an ex-convict, pleaded guilty.
Police Chief Inspector Georgina Penn told the court that Abubakari broke into the room of Mr Wisdom Ahiagi at Anloga in Kumasi on November 26 and stole his three cell phones.
She said in the course of the burglary Mr Ahiagi woke up from his sleep but Abubakari ran away.
Later, on that same day, the Mr Ahiagi saw the convict in the neighbourhood and with the help of people arrested and handed him over to the police at Oforikrom.
