Tragedy befell Kyereyaaso, a farming community in the Atwima-Mponua District when a 42-year old, Kofi Acheampong, a chainsaw operator, was trapped to death by a falling tree.
The deceased had gone to a forest reserve in the area with three others to cut down timber when the disaster struck.
He got trapped by a tree he was felling.
Police Superintendent Samuel Aloredey, the District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that his colleagues managed to pull him from
under the tree.
They made desperate attempts at sending him to the Nyinahin Government Hospital for medical attention, but he died before they could reach the
facility.
The names of the three are being withheld. Meanwhile they are helping the police in their investigations.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at Bibiani Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
