A 20-year-old member of a robbery gang who shot and killed a six-month-old pregnant woman at Duase New Site near Kumasi in May last year, has been jailed 110 years in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Mohammed Musah alias "Red Bone", 20, pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery and murder.
His two other accomplices are on the run.
The court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey heard from Mr Otoo Boison, Chief State Attorney, that one of the complainants, Mr Anthony Hanson is the leader of the Duase New Site Neighbourhood Watch Committee.
Musah lives in the same area.
Mr Boison said on May 20, 2009, at about 0100 hours, the convict and his gang went on a robbery operation and attacked the house of Mr Joseph Kofi Oppong.
They shot and killed the wife, Ms Ataa Akyiamaa, as she shouted for help and bolted with GH¢ 120.00
The deceased's husband received a bullet wound on the right hand.
Mr Boison said the gang had earlier attacked the house of Mr Hanson, where they shot one Mr Kofi Tenkorang in the left leg and also seized at gun point, five single barrelled shot guns.
Musah was traced to Old Tafo by the police upon a tip off and was overpowered when he attempted to run away.
The convict was later identified by his victims at an identification parade.
