The Kade Magistrate's Court, on Monday, granted bail in the sum of GHC 800 to Alex Odame, a farmer, charged with stealing some fermented cocoa beans from a female farmer.
Odame who pleaded not guilty would re-appear before the court presided by Mr Abdul Majid Iliasu, on April 8.
Police Inspector D. T. Nartey, prosecuting, said both the accused and the complainant, Elizabeth Korang, lived at Pramkuma near Akyem Takyimang.
He said on February 2, Elizabeth visited her cocoa farm and found that a quantity of cocoa beans which she had heaped to ferment had been stolen.
She immediately suspected the accused and one Kofi Afagbedzi with whom she shared common boundaries and accordingly made a report to the Akyem Takyimang Police.
When Afagbedzi was arrested and his farm searched, the stolen fermented cocoa beans were found on his farm.
He, however, mentioned Odame as the one who sent the cocoa beans to his farm to dry but Odame could not be traced in the town.
On March 15, Odame was seen and arrested but he denied any involvement in the stealing of the beans.
