Mr Pat. K Eduful, Enyan Denkiyra Rural Bank Manager, has announced plans by the financial entity, to create a Special Front Desk to facilitate the payment of pension claims.
He asked the pensioners to open current accounts with the bank to promote easy transactions.
Mr Eduful made this known at an annual get- together for 130 pensioners of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), at Enyan Denkyira, in the Central Region.
The reception was organised by the zonal branch of the SSNIT Pensioners Association.
Mr Paul Kobina Enos, Public Relations Officer of the SSNIT office at Asikuma, advised members who are 72 years and above to renew their life
certificates every six months with the trust.
He said SSNIT headquarters had plans to build recreational grounds at the regional and district levels to cater for the increasing number of
pensioners.
The Zonal Chairman of the association, Mr John B. Morrison appealed to the government and other stakeholders to better the lot of pensioners, adding that the annual increase of their allowances is woefully inadequate to cope with the current
cost of living.
Dr Albert Bow, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Medical Officer, advised the members to undertake regular exercises, avoid excessive alcoholic intake and sex and eat balanced diet including fruits and vegetables and have enough rest in order to prolong their lives.
He asked them to renew their National Health Insurance Scheme premium and pay regular visits to hospital.
