Property and cash running into thousands of GH Cedis were lost when fire razed through a five bedroom house at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region.
No one was hurt in the incident as all the occupants including a cripple managed to escape.
The cause of the blaze has not been established but is widely believed to have resulted from an electrical fault.
Mr Kwaku Owusu, an eyewitness, told the Ghana News Agency that the fire, which left the building in total ruins started at about 1630 hours.
He said smoke was detected from one of the bedrooms and when he rushed in to find out what was happening, he saw the electric wires in flames
"I quickly run to where the main switch was to put it off before evacuating the cripple from one of the rooms," he said.
He said dozens of people who swarmed the place could only watch helplessly as the entire house got
engulfed in the raging fire.
Personnel from the Ghana Fire Service at Asante-Mampong responded too late as there was nothing to salvage when they arrived at the scene.
The landlady, Madam Akua Serwaah appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation for support.
