The Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly has earmarked GH¢1,300,000.00 towards the implementation of a number of development projects to the raise socio-economic conditions of the people.
These include the construction of classroom blocks, supply of school furniture, refurbishment of some police stations, accommodation for nurses and provision of sanitation facilities.
The project beneficiaries comprise; Abodease, Bonkwaso Number Two, Beniekrom, Betinko, Bonkrom, Fawoman,Mankranso, Dwinyama, Asuadei, Afreseni, Bokruwa, Aponaponso, Datibi, Pokukrom and Asuokor.
Mr Thomas Kwakwah, District Chief Executive (DCE) made this known during an ordinary meeting of the
assembly at Mankranso.
He said some development projects started by the New Patriotic Party Government, have been completed.
The DCE listed some of the projects as school blocks with offices and stores at Mpasaso, Nyamebekye, Essienkyem, Bonsokrom, Asikantia, Abesewa and Attakrom.
The rest are nurses' quarters at Wioso, an Area Council building at Domeabra and sanitation facilities at Nsuta, Adadekrom, Sikafrebogya, Ahwerewam and Kunsu.
Mr Kwakwah told the meeting that the assembly had received support from the British Department for
International Development for the manufacture of dual and mono desks for distribution to schools in the area.
Touching on agriculture he said under the "grain, rice and seed production" project, the assembly had
acquired a 20-hectare land for 50 farmers.
Additionally, large swathe of land has been made available for the national reforestation project.
