Naa Mumuni Saaka, one of the few surviving veterans of the Second World War and a Senior Divisional chief in the Wala Traditional Area, died at Sing in the Wa Municipality on Monday.
He was installed as chief in 1969, within the Jonyuohi gate, which is one of the four gates in the Wa royal set up.
As a chief, he followed the line of succession in the Jonyuohi clan or gate by moving through several villages within the gate to become the chief of Sing and leader of the gate in 1994.
Naa Mumuni was buried at the royal mausoleum in Sing on Tuesday evening in accordance with Muslim custom.
Believed to be over 100 years old and the oldest War veteran and chief in the Municipality, he left behind over 60 children as well as many grand and great grand children.
