The Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Assembly in the Central Region, has received GH¢1,528,965.49, as its share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund for 2010 Mr Foster Joseph Andoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) who made this
known at an assembly meeting at Twifo Praso, said the amount would be used to prepare the 2010 supplementary budget for the area and take care of
development projects.
He assured members of the assembly of a bright future ahead and called on them to co-operate and work hard to ensure the progress of the district.
Mr Andoh said World Vision, Ghana, a non-governmental organisation had supported the district with 10 boreholes, five KVIP toilet facilities while the government has also earmarked 12 boreholes for 12 communities.
Touching on roads Mr Andoh he said work on the spot improvement on the road from Cape Coast to Twifo Praso has commenced while routine maintenance
on the Twifo Praso to Foso has been completed.
Mr Michael Adorvlo, Presiding Member of the Assembly called on members to take the forthcoming national population and housing census seriously and educate their people on the importance of the exercise.
He stressed the need for the assembly to sensitise the public on the need to provide accurate and reliable data to enable government to make informed decisions to facilitate the rapid development of the district.
Mr Adorvlo commended the government for advancing plans to hook a number of communities to the National Electricity Grid.
He called on the assembly members to educate people on the efficient use of electricity since some of the fire outbreaks in recent times were
attributed to misuse of the energy.
Mr Adorvlo appealed to the assembly to consider giving a befitting ex-gratia award to members for their dedicated services under the Better Ghana Agenda.
