A Philipino woman and a Nigerian man were arrested in the national capital in connection with alleged seizure of 1.7 kg of cocaine with a street value of Rs two crore, officials said on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended Laya Emilyn Mananquil, hailing from Philippines, from the Indira Gandhi International airport yesterday when she arrived
here from Dubai.
Mananquil was flying to Delhi in Emirates Airlines EK-510 flight from Dubai and had allegedly concealed the contraband in her baggage.
Her questioning led to the arrest of Choka, a Nigerian national, from Nawada area in the capital.
On May eight, the NCB had arrested a Mali national from the airport allegedly with 5.1 kg of heroin with a street value of around Rs 5.2 crore.
Abdoulaye Coulibaly was apprehended by NCB with help from CISF and DIAL officials while he was about to board a Spicejet flight to Hyderabad from the capital.
Officials recovered 5.160 kg of heroin of south-west Asian origin from him.
During interrogation, officials claimed, Coulibaly told them that he was a carrier for drugs and was supposed to smuggle the consignment out of India to Lome, Togo.
In another case on May 10, the NCB arrested a Nepali citizen Dilip Shresta from Connaught Place allegedly with 20 kg of hashish worth Rs two crore.
The contraband was destined for a foreign country and was supposed to have been smuggled out through courier.
Similarly, the Bureau also arrested an Indian woman named Prescilla allegedly with 450 gms of heroin, priced at about Rs 50 lakh, in a separate case on Monday.
NCB officials said she was arrested from Munirka while booking the parcel containing heroin to Netherlands.
