Minister of India Kapil Sibal will embark on a week-long visit to the US from Monday during which he will interact with institutions there on government's initiative to attract foreign colleges and expand the education sector.
Sibal will meet university representatives and government functionaries there and highlight steps taken by India to increase access of people to education.
He will interact with the president of Virginia Tech University which has already evinced interest to set up a campus near Hyderabad in India.
Sibal will meet with representatives from George Town University and attend the India-US strategic dialogue in Washington on Thursday.
He will go to San Francisco on Friday where he will interact with Stanford Centre for International Development and UC Bekeley.
Sibal is expected to explain the provisions of a proposed law for allowing foreign institutions in India.
