Mr Kwesi Ofei Ofosu-Apea, Director of RIIS Memorial School, on Wednesday stressed the need for the elderly in society to help instil moral and social values in the youth.
He said the youth were at the threshold of a very challenging future and efforts must be made to shape them to become responsible adults.
Mr Ofosu-Apea made the call after leading pupils of the school, located in Dansoman, an Accra suburb, in a procession through the principal streets of the area as part of activities marking its 25th anniversary celebration to be climaxed in September.
In addition, the pupils cleaned chocked gutters and collected refuse to ensure free-flow of water and improve hygiene in the environment.
Mr Ofosu-Apea said because of economic hardships, parents had failed to spend quality and enough time with their children, a situation which had affected the moral and social uprightness of some children.
He therefore called on all and sundry, to endeavour to ensure social and moral recovery for the youth.
Other activities lined up for the celebration include literary and arts festival, home coming and family day, career guidance day, medical screening and blood donation, founders' durbar and graduation and thanksgiving service.
The celebration is under the theme: "The Youth at the Threshold of a Very Challenging Future".
