The Staff of the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) on Thursday, used the 50th year of the Republic Day, to undertake a three-hour health walk.
The workers numbering 30, started from the offices of the COCOBOD to the Swedru Chapel Square, and ended at Gomoa Ekwamkrom.
Mr Ebenezer Opoku Agyeman, Regional Manager of the Quality Control Division of the COCOBOD, addressing the workers, said the exercise was in
response to directive from their headquarters that the holiday be used to exercise their bodies, instead of going to beaches and other social
activities.
The Regional Manager said health walk forms part of the corporate policy being used to strengthen the health of workers of the COCOBOD.
He noted that the walk also helps the staff to reduce illness and medical expenses, adding that a healthy body makes a sound mind that enhances socio-economic advancement of the company
Mr Opoku Agyeman said due to the tedious nature of their job, it was difficult for workers of the Board to get enough time to undertake frequent body exercise, and this has given them the opportunity to burn the fats in their body.
He said the exercise would henceforth be organized periodically to improve the health status of the staff.
