The Reverend Dr E.H. Brew Riverson, a former Secretary of Conference of the Methodist Church, has appealed to Ghanaians to put the development of the nation before individual selfish interests and ambitions.
They should put aside contentions and skirmishes within families and politics and pool towards taking the country forward.
He said unless they do this, very little headway could be achieved by way of socio-economic progress.
This was contained in a statement he sent to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, on Friday.
Rev. Dr Riverson said it should not be lost on anyone that without unity of purpose, understanding and mutual respect, lifting the nation out of the present harsh economic conditions would be a mirage.
"We always have a resolution given by one God who died to put an end to all our enmities," he noted.
He said by "His one spirit, Ghanaians are all baptized into one body notwithstanding how people regard us, whether Asantes or Ewes, Fantes or
Gas, Abudus or Andanis, farmers or teachers, rich or poor, all of us have been given the same spirit."
Rev. Riverson said the performance of the Black Stars in the on-going FIFA World Cup should teach the nation a lesson about discipline,
determination and commitment.
