Kwame Peter, an 18-year-old man was on Friday
sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labour by a circuit court in Cape Coast for defiling a 10 year old girl at Ammisakrom near Abakrampa in the central region.
Peter, who pleaded guilty, was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting Inspector Daniel Agbezuhlor told the court presided by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that Peter and the victim live in the same vicinity.
He said on July 31, 2010 at about 1030 hours, the victim was playing outside her house with one Eunice Addo and five other friends when Peter
called the victim.
Inspector Agbezuhlor said the victim refused to come but Peter forcibly pulled her to his room where he forcefully defied her.
He said later when the victim was not coming, the friends followed-up to Peter's house and banged at his door amidst shouting before he lets her out.
Inspector Agbezuhlor said the shouts of the victim attracted one Eben Columbus, who came to the scene and helped to send Peter to the Abakrampa Police Station.
He said in his caution statement, Peter admitted the offence.
In a related development, Kwamena Adu a 27-year-old driver was remanded in prison custody by the same court for allegedly defiling a six year old girl at Twifo-Hemang.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to reappear on Thursday 26, August, 2010.
Prosecution told the court that the victim live with her aunt at Twifo-Hemang and that sometime in July this year the complaint Madam Mary Damptey, the victim's mother, who lives in Kwame Alert Village near Twifo Hemang, visited the victim and the aunt.
He said whiles there, Madam Damptey detected changes in the walking of the victim and decided to take her to the hospital for a check-up. He said the hospital's report indicated that she was defied.
When the victim was asked about it she mentioned Adu's name. Prosecution said Adu lured her to his room and sexually abused her after, which he warned her not to tell anyone.
He said Madam Damptey later reported the matter to the police and Adu was arrested but he denied the offence in his caution statement.
