No South Koreans have been reported injured in an earthquake that struck the South Pacific island of Vanuatu Tuesday, the foreign ministry said.
A 7.5 magnitude quake occurred in waters some 46 kilometers off Vanuatu's capital of Port Vila, which was followed by a small tsunami, but no
casualties have been reported so far, according to the ministry.
About 40 South Koreans reside in the island nation, and an additional four Koreans have been stationed there as voluntary workers to teach the
Korean martial art of taekwondo, the ministry said.
The country's embassy in Papua New Guinea is checking the situation with the head of the association of South Koreans on the island while offering advice on safety measures in case of emergencies, the ministry said.
