Mr Felix Kyei, a senior member of the Gender and Environmental Monitoring and Advocacy (GEMA), a Non Governmental Organisation, has appealed to stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to ensure that the oil find became a blessing.
Mr Kyei made the appeal at a day�s Workshop the NGO organised for 50 participants made up of chiefs, security agencies, assembly members, civil
society and opinion leaders in the Jomoro District at Half Assini.
It was under the theme; �Ghana Natural Resources, Emphasis on Oil and Gas�.
Topics treated include Ghana�s oil find, views and expectation of residents, governments and civil society organisation.
Mr Kyei, also a facilitator, said through educational and advocacy programmes, the NGO was empowering the fisher folks and farmers in the area on other alternative sources of livelihood.
He called for proper management of the environment to avoid environmental degradation.
Mr Kyei said Ghanaians would be integrated and trained to be capable of occupying key positions on the oil rig after 10 years under the government policy agreement and the oil companies.
