Mrs Emma Boafo Yeboah, Founder of Country Side
Orphanage at Bawjiase in the Central Region, on Friday appealed to government and philanthropists for assistance to renew the National Health
Insurance premium for the inmates to enable them access quality health care.
She said, It has become difficult for the inmates to attend hospital because their premiums have expired and they could not mobilise funds to pay for their hospital bills.
Mrs Yeboah made the appeal when management of the Audit Service presented food items, used cloths and GH2,500 cash all totalling GH3,000
to the Orphanage at Bawjiase.
The items included bags of rice, sugar, gallons of cooking oil, toilet soaps and sanitary products.
The presentation was part of activities marking its centenary celebrations.
Mrs Yeboah said the orphanage established in 1983 had trained many children and currently had 134 inmates made up of 80 boys and 54 girls.
Mr George Winful, Assistant Auditor General, Public Accounts presenting the items said it was part of their social responsibilities to reach out to the vulnerable in society.
