Dr. Joseph Samuel Annan, Deputy Minister for Education, on Monday said the best legacy parents could bequeath their children was education.
He has therefore appealed to them to invest heavily in their education to enable them grow up to secure lucrative jobs to improve upon their lot.
Dr. Annan, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA), was speaking at the annual Nyeyi festival
of the chiefs and people of Abreshia in the KEEA district, at Abreshia, celebrated under the theme; "festival, a tool for development".
Highlighting achievements chalked since he was elected MP of the area, he indicated that he had initiated a number of projects which included the re-surfacing of the road from Egyeikrom junction to link Abreshia and Benyadze and the establishment of the Annan Memorial Education Fund.
He said the Fund is to assist brilliant but needy students, while he had provided 20 sets of jerseys to schools and communities within the
municipality.
Dr. Annan later donated 20 bags of cement to facilitate the construction of a kitchen for the municipal assembly's basic school's feeding programme.
Nana Afari Twaako III, chief of Abreshia, appealed to the government to establish a fruit processing factory for the town to create jobs for the youth of the area who are predominantly citrus farmers.
Nana Twaako commended Mr. John Ackon, assembly member for Abreshia, Ntsiman and Bando electoral area, for his immense contribution towards the improvement of the area and appealed to the youth to participate fully in community work.
Mr. Ackon who received the 20 bags of cement donated by Dr. Annan on behalf of the community thanked him for the gesture.
