Daasebre Professor Oti Boateng has been conferred Vice-Chancellor of the World Academy of letters at Cambridge University, England during the 2010 World Forum.
The ceremony, which was jointly organized by the America Biographical Institute (ABI) and the International Biographical Centre (IBC), brought together about 150 academicians and achievers from over 40 countries of the world.
Resident Chancellor, J.M. Evans invested Daasebre with the Academy Sash by placing it around his neck in a symbolic gesture.
These were contained in a press statement signed by Mr Razak El-Alawa, Media Advisor to Daasebre and copied to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Monday.
Other items pertaining to the appointment included a signed and sealed Resolution, 11 by 14 inch Commencement Diploma and a personal seal embosser.
Chancellor Evans said Daasebre's selection was based on the respect he commanded as an eminent ruler and leader in Ghana and his dedication to expanding the frontiers of thought and intellect.
Daasebre Boateng thanked the Academy for the great honour and trust reposed in him and gave a firm assurance that he would act with assiduity and zeal to preserve the Academy's standards of extraordinary knowledge and accomplishment on the international level.
He urged the forum to stand firm by the truth and place honour and virtue above the external advantages of rank and fortune.
Daasebre Boateng hoped that many sons and daughters of Ghana and Africa would emulate his example to achieve higher laurels to assist both
the country and continent to develop rapidly.
Professor Kweku Danso-Boafo, Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland commended Daasebre Boateng for his immense contributions to the progress of the country and urged Ghanaians to consider his current appointment as a great honour to the nation.
He called on the youth to take Daasebre Boateng as their role model to inspire them towards the future.
Professor Danso-Boafo announced that he was organizing one of the biggest gatherings of Ghanaians in the UK in October this year where various sustainable youth programmes would be launched.
As Vice-Chancellor of the World Academy of letters, Daasebre Professor Oti Boateng would be part of a tradition of hundreds of years of Academia.
He is now entitled to use the "Vice-Chancellor" accredited before or after his name.
Prof. Boateng is the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area in Eastern Region.
