Koko King, producers of Ghana's favorite porridge, Hausa Koko, has added touch and class to beverage to enhance the package and make it more attractive to consumers.
Packaged in a disposable cup, it also comes with sugar, tissue paper, disposable spoon, milk, bread, either in loaves or sandwich depending on the buyer's choice.
They also sell other local beverages like "Eko Egbeemi", "Tom Brown" and "Oblayo", in addition with Quaker Oats, Soya Porridge, and wheat.
At a short presentation of about 1,000 cups to health professionals at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Managing Director of Koko King, Mr Albert Osei, said it was to erase the notion that the attractive packaged Koko and other cereals were only for a class of people and also to drum home the importance of breakfast to the human body.
He said the company started with about 20 cups daily but now served over 2,000 sealed disposable cups of cereals daily to customers.
He said due to consumer demands, other foods would also be added such as "waakye", popular local rice and beans meal, which many Ghanaians eat for breakfast, adding that the company would soon go into dry food processing.
The Deputy Director of Nursing at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Mrs Comfort Aboagye, said breakfast improved the memory and urged Ghanaians not to skip it.
She said the packaging of those cereals and porridge made it free from contamination and safe for human consumption and expressed appreciation to the company for the gesture.
