The Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWAC) on Wednesday asked the police in Bawku to search for Mr Inusah Yakubu to assist in investigations into the circumstances which led to the death of his wife, Madam Hamida Abdullai.
Mr Inusah who resides in Tesungo, a suburb of Bawku in the Upper East Region, has gone into hiding after allegedly beating his wife till she became unconscious and died consequently.
A release from the Ministry copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, noted that the 30-year-old Madam Hamida died after being allegedly beaten by her husband, who accused her of stealing his money.
The release said Mr Inusah had been habitually beating Madam Hamida, sometimes compelling her to run away to her family house.
It entreated families to take keen interest in ensuring that marital problems among their family members were properly resolved, and also report issues of violence to the police before they degenerated into unacceptable situations such as deaths.
"We all have the collective responsibility to ensure that such acts of violence and abuses are checked within our communities", it said.
