The Akim Oda Magistrate Court has imposed a fine of GH300.00 on Kwesi Anakwa, a driver, for siphoning 15 gallons of diesel, valued GH75.00 from his employers tipper truck.
Anakwa, 23, admitted stealing the fuel when he was on night duty.
The convict would be gaoled 24 months if he fails to pay the fine.
The prosecution told the court that the complainant is the Chief Security Officer of the Birim Wood complex and that on September 18, he
detected that the cover of a tipper truck fuel tank had been tampered with, while the diesel in the vehicle had been siphoned.
The complainant therefore confronted Anakwa who admitted that he had siphoned only four gallons from the truck, compelling the security officer to cause the arrest of the convict.
