Alhaji Haruna Bukari Dabre, Assemblyman for Mamobi East, has called on all law-abiding citizens to help fight lawlessness in the country and maintain order and the rule of law.
He said it was about time illegalities and criminality were treated with the contempt that they deserved and appealed to the law enforcement agencies to assist in fighting the canker.
Alhaji Dabre, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said a number of the youth now engaged in criminal activities such as wee smoking, phone-snatching, hijacking of properties, land guarding and armed robbery.
He urged opinion leaders to rise up against those barbaric acts adding that "progeny will not forgive us for turning our eyes at the wrong direction for crime, be it small or big, to take place."
The Assemblyman said a few weeks ago, a group of people attacked and took over two toilet facilities at Urban Aid and Brukutu, which were under contractual agreement in Mamobi East, and stole the day's proceeds of about GH80.00.
Alhaji Dabre said the illegal take over of the facilities was reported to the Nima District Police, the Regional Police Commander and the Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso but the situation had not been attended to.
"We should all come together to fight these obnoxious forms of stealing in the society," he stressed.
