A Pre-United Nations (UN) Selection Assistance
Training Programme for 300 police officers from the Southern Sector of the country began in Koforidua on Tuesday.
The police officers are from the Volta, Eastern, Tema, Central and the Greater Accra regions.
The course is specifically designed to sharpen the ability of police personnel to pass the theoretical and practical tests of the UN SAT
examination for Peace Keeping Officers with ease.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Ransford M. Ninson, Eastern Regional Commander, noted that the UN SAT examination had been challenging to most personnel wishing to serve in International Peace Keeping Missions because of the stressful nature of the examination process.
"The number required by the UN Team is very limited and many personnel do not get enough time to adequately prepare towards the examination," he noted.
He, however, stressed that it is the hope of every police officer to serve in a UN Mission in his career to enhance his Curriculum Vitae and
enjoy the pecuniary benefits, which also benefits his nation.
DCOP Ninson said it was against this background that the present Police Administration thought it essential to conduct the Pre-SAT training course to enable many police personnel to pass the examination to serve in Peace Keeping Missions worldwide.
He, therefore, urged all the participants to take the training programme seriously to be able to pass all UN SAT Tests to be conducted and
to bring honour to the Police Administration, themselves, family and the nation as a whole."
DCOP Ninson, on behalf of the Police Administration and the Government, expressed gratitude to the German Government for supporting the programme.
