The Principal of the Abetifi College of Education, the Reverend Daniel Bosea Gyenatwi, has advised teachers to use enough teaching and learning materials at the basic level for pupils to better understand the subjects.
He said as the role of teachers is to help learners to learn, they should follow the curriculum and choose and provide the needed learning materials.
They should also adapt, supplement and elaborate on the materials and monitor the progress and needs of the children and also evaluate them.
Rev. Gyenatwi was addressing a workshop on Early Childhood Educational Materials, at Abetifi, for 20 selected tutors from seven Colleges of Education throughout the country.
The beneficiary colleges include Ola, Tumu, Holy Child, Saint Louis, Jasikan, Abetifi Presbyterian and Aburi Presbyterian Women's College of Education
Rev. Gyenatwi urged the teachers to use sufficient aids, especially at the early childhood and primary one levels for the pupils to understand English Language, Mathematics and Science subjects.
The coordinator of the programme, Mrs Esther Lilly Owusu, advised the colleges of Education to use teaching and learning materials to train their students so that they would use them to educate the children on completion of their training.
