Fifty (50) farmers in the Asante-Mampong Municipality were on Friday rewarded with prizes at a farmers' day celebration held at Bosomkyekye for their unique contribution to the development of agriculture in the area.
Mr Duncan Yeboah, 43, was voted the overall best farmer in the municipality and took home a bicycle, pumping machine, cutlasses, full piece
of cloth, radio cassette recorder and certificate.
The former Manager of the Otuasekan Rural Bank owns 22,000 birds, 100 pigs, a five-acre each of cowpea and maize and seven acres of mixed crops.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Daniel Appau Ohyeamang, commended the farmers for their hard work.
He urged the agriculture extension officers to put their expertise at the disposal of the farmers to enable them to increase crop yield.
He also encouraged more youth to go into farming, saying it was a rewarding venture.
