Virginia State Police say they have surveillance video from a Walmart in Salem of missing 12-year-old Brittany Mae Smith with 32-year-old Jeffrey Scott Easley.
The Roanoke County girl has been missing since her mother, Tina Smith, was found dead in their home Monday morning, WSLS-TV, Greenville, N.C., reported Wednesday.
Police have been searching for Easley, who was living with Smith and her daughter, as a person of interest in the case.
Smith's car, a 2005 Silver Dodge Neon with Virginia tags XKF-2365, also is missing.
Easley's mother, Sally Martin of Greenville, told WSLS she wants her son to call her or 911.
"Do whatever you need to do; We'll help you work this out," Martin said.
Roanoke County Police Chief Ray Lavinder said the Walmart video shows Brittany Smith and Easley purchasing various items at the store Friday
night, WITN-TV, Washington, N.C., reported.
Easley used a credit card belonging to Brittany's mother, a move that allowed police to obtain two felony warrants for his arrest.
The FBI, the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Marshal's Service are aiding in the search.
