Cabinet has approved a financing agreement for the construction of 12 district hospitals and technical training institutions.
In addition, two air ambulances, 200 ambulance cars, 50 mobile clinics and
10 educative mobile units would be supplied under the agreement.
statement signed by Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng, in Accra on Tuesday said the agreement was between Ghana and
OPUS 7 S.R.O Satov of Austria.
The expected construction of new hospitals and supply of mobile clinics and ambulances reflect President Mills administration commitment to improving
our health infrastructure with a view to enhancing healthcare delivery across
the country,he explained.
Mr Agyenim-Boateng said President John Evans Atta Mills promise of 2011 as an action year and the explanation that the country would experience major infrastructural development was on course.
The statement said the expected supply of additional 200 ambulance cars and two air ambulances was in fulfilment of government pledge to scale up and expand the National Ambulance Service to all district capitals.
The Service presently has 24 fully functioning ambulance stations and the delivery of more cars and the expected completion of training for 400 Emergency Medical Technicians would enable the Service open more stations across the country.
Mr Agyenim-Boateng said a National Ambulance Service Bill would soon be laid before Parliament to promulgate a law to regulate the service.
