A nine-year-old girl committed suicide by throwing herself from the fifth floor of a building in the southern city of Lyon, local media reported Wednesday.
"There is no doubt it was a suicide attempt, even though it's a rare case for a child of her age," Europe1 radio quoted Lyon prosecutor Marc Desert as saying.
"This act was confirmed by a few words written by the girl on a piece of paper just before she threw herself from the window," he said.
The report said the little girl suffered from chronic diabetes and argued with her nanny about eating too much candy.
In her note, she said she was fed up with her illness and decided to end her life.
