An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remand a 31- year-old farmer, Kwasi Akoedzsu, a native of Hohoe in the Volta Region, into custody for allegedly possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp without authority.
Akoedzu pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on February 4.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agyemang told the court presided over by Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour that on December 23, 2010, the Greater Accra Regional Police had information that some young men were peddling narcotic drugs at Achimota and its environs.
He said police personnel deployed to the area arrested the accused carrying a travelling bag containing five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a substance suspected to be narcotic drug wrapped with a cellotape.
The prosecution said the accused, on interrogation, claimed ownership and said he arrived from Hohoe to deliver them to someone at Achimota but declined to identify the person.
