The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Sunday afternoon that it has found a missing sailboat with five United States citizens on board.
The "The Pineapple," which left Guam on Jan. 6 and was supposed to arrive in Cebu, the Philippines on Jan. 16, was spotted near Kanhandon Pt., Hibuson Island in Surigao Strait, the Philippine Coast Guard said in a statement.
"The PCG Islander conducting aerial surveillance of the sailboat's possible routes and adjoining areas spotted the sailboat yesterday (Saturday) but could not confirm because of poor visibility," the statement said.
"The PCG Islander plane was able to confirm only today (Sunday) that it was the missing sailboat after establishing contact with the people, including a lady, on board the Pineapple," it added.
