The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has expressed concern about the growing rate of immoral lifestyles among the youth.
He blamed the situation on the failure of the adult population to lead responsible lifestyles which in turn has been copied by the youth.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo therefore called on all stakeholders to help find a lasting solution to the problem.
He made the call at the weekend when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of Mamfe in the Akuapem North District to climax the Annual Ohum Festival.
He said the youth had a lot of talent and potential and they needed to be helped to unearth those talents and nurture them so that they would make meaningful contributions to national development.
He said it was against this background that the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was leaving no stone unturned to make quality education accessible to every child in the country.
As a result, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the educational sector in the Akuapem North District had witnessed a lot of infrastructural development than any other sector within the past two years.
He said the Assembly had constructed as many as twenty-six classroom blocks while others were at various stages of construction.
Mr Ofosu -Ampofo said over 6,000 pieces of classroom furniture were being procured for distribution to all needy schools while every child had received their share of free exercise books.
He said while the government was doing its part to provide the necessary support to the youth, the adults should also lead exemplary lifestyles to mentor them.
The chief of Mamfe, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku II, in his welcoming address called on the people of Mamfe to rekindle their communal spirit to help develop the town.
Other dignitaries at the durbar included the District Chief Executive for Akuapem North, Mr George Opare Addo, and the Member of Parliament for Akropong, Mr William Ofori Boafo.
