Science and mathematics teachers have been urged to simplify their teaching methods to help demystify the learning of these subjects to make science-related courses attractive to pupils and students.
Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai, Chief Executive of
Breast Care International, an NGO dedicated to the creation of breast cancer awareness, said everything should be done to assist pupils especially girls to overcome the fear for these subjects.
She was speaking at a ceremony to present
certificates to 20 pupils of the YMCA Junior High School who are benefiting from a scholarship scheme instituted by Dr Mrs Wiafe Addai and her siblings, at Kwahu Mpraeso.
The scheme is in memory of their late mother,
Madam Juliana Oforiwaa Wiafe, who though an illiterate, ensured that all her children attained higher academic laurels.
Dr Addai said the scholarship, started on pilot basis in 2009, would be extended to benefit many brilliant but needy pupils in the Mpraeso community.
She said priority would be given to science and mathematics to encourage more pupils to take up the two subjects at higher levels of education.
