A water closet public place of convenience built by a business woman at Boadua near Akwatia, was inaugurated on Wednesday.
According to Madam Esi Bensua, the business woman, she built the “Jesus Promise Toilet” as her contribution towards the uplift of the town and the welfare of the people.
Madam Bensua, who hails from Akumfi Esuohyia in the Mfantseman East District of the Central Region, said having lived and earned her living at Boadua for the past 20 years she felt it a duty to provide that sanitary facility at the place where it was urgently needed.
She said she took the decision to construct the facility seven months ago when she visited the place and saw that the public place of convenience there was in a very deplorable state, even a death trap, which the people had no option than to use.
According to her, she immediately consulted the Boaduahene, Barima Owusu Konadu II, who without hesitation gladly released a piece of land close to the outmoded toilet and within six months had the 28-seater place of convenience ready for use.
The Akwatia District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police S. K. Odame, said more often when projects were being inaugurated they were those built by the government or the district assembly but for a woman to make such an effort to improve the lot of the community needed commendation.
Barima Owusu Konadu, who cut the tape to inaugurate the project, was also full of praise for Madam Bensua and said Ghana needed such patriotic people to advance her development.
He said such modern sanitary facilities promoted good sanitation and good health.
