An Australian woman trapped in a collapsed office building in Christchurch of New Zealand for several hours after earthquake hit the city told the Australian Seven Network on Tuesday via her mobile phone that she had been awaiting for rescue in the dark and unable to move.
The middle-aged woman, identified as Anne Voss, said she was sitting at her desk in the Pyne Gould Corporation Building when the magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit the New Zealand city.
Speaking to the Seven Network on her mobile, Voss said she was now stuck in a building she thought would never collapse.
"I went under my desk and the ceiling collapsed on top of the desk," Voss said.
Voss said she had been stuck for several hours in the dark with an injured hand.
When asked if she was OK, Voss replied, "No, I'm not sure, I'm bleeding."
It is thought up to 30 workers could be trapped in the building.
Voss said she could occasionally hear her trapped co-workers calling out for help, though she did not have contact with them and she could not move.
"I can't see them, I'm trapped under here and I have no idea what's happening," she said.
Voss said she was taking regular calls from her son in Australia along with other family to keep her going.
Voss was told there were dozens of rescuers working to access the collapsed building.
