Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., South Korea's No. 2 shipper, said Sunday it will launch a new route connecting major Asian ports with the eastern U.S. port of Savannah,Georgia next month, in tandem with four other shippers each from Germany, Hong Kong, Israel and Japan.
The new service, which will start on May 12, will directly link the South Korean port of Busan and major Asian ports, including the port of Hong Kong, to Savannah, the second-largest port on the eastern U.S. coast.
The South Korean shipper plans to operate two 4,500 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) ships and seven other container ships on the new line.
