The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has cautioned residents of the Ashanti Region to act firmly in promoting good hygienic conditions in their communities.
This would help avoid the outbreak of Cholera, which had already taken its toll in some regions including the Greater Accra, Upper West
and Eastern Regions.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs Vivien Akumia, Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator and issued in Kumasi at the weekend.
It called on the residents to wash their hands thoroughly with soap any time they visited the toilet and also prevent food, water, vegetables and other edibles from getting into contact with flies.
The statement advised that all foods should be eaten in their warmth state and also be covered properly.
It reminded the public that the germs, which cause Cholera, were in human faeces and that they should distance themselves from infested
toilets, drains and refuge dumps.
The statement called on the public to watch out for relatives, who have serious and frequent discharge of clear watery stools and
vomiting.
They should also endeavour to report such cases to hospitals and other health facilities for medical care.
