Citi FM, an Accra based private radio station, on Monday donated assorted items valued at 3,000 Ghana Cedis and a cash amount of 3,000 Ghana cedis to Mama Laadi’s orphanage in Bolgatanga.
The items included 10 bags of rice, bags of millet, maize, beans, sugar, toiletries, sweets, biscuits, energy lamps.
Presenting the items to the Orphanage, Mr. Richard Mensah, a Management Member of Citi FM, explained that the donation formed part of the radio station’s ”Easter Orphan Project” which is organized annually to help orphanages through the support of philanthropists.
He said the project was an aspect of the station’s social responsibility which aimed at easing the pressure and frustrations of orphanages adding that currently, the station was supporting four orphanages in the country.
Mr. Madison Amokase, a Board Member of Mama Laadi’s Orphanage, thanked the Citi FM for the gesture and said this was the fourth time the Orphanage was receiving support from them.
Mama Laadi, founder of the Orphanage, said currently, the orphanage had 45 children aged between 18 years and six months.
He mentioned the difficulty in the payment of school fees, feeding, textbooks and exercise books as some of the challenges facing the orphanage and therefore appealed to other organizations for
support.
Mr. James Quiest, Event and Promotion Manager of Citi FM, commended National Lotteries, Cal Bank, EcoBank, Harvest Prayers Ministry among others, for supporting the radio station.
