A Magistrate’s Court in Koforidua on Thursday remanded in police custody Kwaku Maliba, a 25-year-old mason, for unlawful entry and stealing.
Maliba, who pleaded guilty to both counts, would re-appear before court on May 12.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Bronya, told the court presided over by Mrs Priscilla Yeboah that the complainant and Maliba lived in the same
house at Korle-Nkwanta, a suburb of Koforidua.
The prosecution said that on April 11 at about 0600 hours, Maliba sneaked into the complainant’s bedroom and stole GH¢ 3,470.00 in a
bag.
Inp. Bronya said Maliba went on a drinking spree and gave money to anyone who entered the drinking spot.
He said following a tip off, the Police went to the spot and invited Maliba for interrogation.
Insp. Bronya said the accused admitted committing the crime stealing and led the Police to where he stole the money.
The prosecution said GH¢ 1,760.00 was recovered from Maliba.
