Mr Ebenezer Terlabi, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, has expressed worry about how some people condone and connive to rape the country of millions of Ghana Cedis.
He said those monies being siphoned into individual pockets could had been used to create jobs in the country.
Mr Terlabi was launching the Regional Bio-metric registration for Government of Ghana Pensioners in Koforidua on Friday.
He alleged that some staff of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department were condoning with people to dupe the state and called on those “nation wreckers” to change for the better.
Mr Terlabi indicated that for a country to attain an efficient and effective economic development geared towards the improvement of social, political and economic life of its people, there would be the need to have a sound public financial management system.
He said there had been many concerns expressed about the integrity of Government of Ghana payroll and to address those concerns, and to ensure the effective management of resources of the nation, the Minister of Finance on February 23, this year, launched a project to be executed by “3M” Cogent of the USA.
The project was geared towards the cleaning and updating of Government payroll with Bio-metric data adding that it would cover about 730,000 public sector employees and pensioners.
Mr Terlabi said starting from Monday June 20 to 30, the Implementation Team made up of representatives of 3M Cogent, Ministry of Finance and the CAGD would visit every district capital to conduct the exercise.
He appealed to all pensioners and other beneficiaries to take the exercise very serious and give it their fullest support to make it a success since it is a key in ensuring the sustenance of government’s 2011 macroeconomic stability for economic growth.
Mr R.K. Tuffour, the Controller and Accountant General, in a speech read on his behalf, said pensioners would be required to provide information for identification and registration purposes.
They include Pension Advice, Pension Form one, Pension Identity Card, Birth Certificate or any document showing evidence of Birth and Photo ID Card among others.
Some Municipal and District Chief Executives, Coordinating Directors and Finance Officers from the region attended the function.
