A 24- year-old unemployed, Emmanuel Koomson has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for stealing GH¢28, a mobile phone and pen drive valued at GH¢65.00.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant John Bekoe is a vulcaniser at the Tarkwa Lorry Station.
The Prosecutor said on June 10, the complainant after the day’s work, hid GH¢28, one mobile phone valued at 45.00 and a pen drive estimated to cost GH¢20.00 in the shop.
He said at about 0400 hours when the complainant fell asleep the convict sneaked into the shop and stole the items.
According the Prosecutor, when the complainant woke up and noticed the theft, he enquired from a food vendor nearby whether he saw some body entering the shop?
Chief Inspector Amponsah said the vendor mentioned the name of the convict leading to the report and the arrest of Koomson by the police.
